Microscope Assisted Root Canal Specialist in Warsaw

Medical Director | Endodontic Center of Excellence | Member of AAE | Advanced Endodontic Education – Harvard School of Dental Medicine

This profile is intended for patients seeking advanced root canal treatment and microscope assisted endodontic care in Warsaw, Poland, as well as for dentists referring complex, high difficulty endodontic cases from across Poland and abroad.

About Me: A Leader in Advanced Endodontic Care

I am a dentist with over fifteen years of clinical experience in Warsaw, Poland, and the co founder of Warsaw Dental Center, which I established together with my brother. Our clinic was created to deliver advanced, evidence based dental care using modern technology, precise clinical protocols, and a truly patient centered philosophy.

Warsaw Dental Center welcomes both local and international patients who travel to Poland for high quality dental treatment. Many of our patients seek care for complex root canal procedures, previously failed treatments, or persistent tooth pain, requiring a level of diagnostic accuracy, predictability, and communication that meets international standards.

From the beginning of my career, my goal has been to combine high level clinical expertise with a calm and supportive treatment environment. I understand that root canal therapy is often associated with fear, especially for patients who have experienced pain, complications, or unsuccessful procedures in the past. My approach focuses on clear communication, gentle care, and predictable outcomes so that every patient feels safe, informed, and confident throughout treatment.

Education & Clinical Foundations

International education, continuous learning, and a focus on saving natural teeth

My approach to endodontic care is grounded in formal university education, postgraduate specialization, and ongoing collaboration with the international endodontic community. I graduated with honors from the Medical University of Warsaw and completed postgraduate specialist training in endodontics at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Alongside my clinical practice, I continue to refine my diagnostic and treatment strategies through advanced education at institutions such as Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) and through active involvement in professional organizations including the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and the European Society of Endodontology (ESE). This ongoing exchange of knowledge allows me to stay closely aligned with current international standards and evolving best practices in endodontics.

For my patients, this translates into careful diagnosis, conservative decision-making, and treatment plans designed to preserve natural teeth whenever possible even in cases that appear complex or uncertain. Every recommendation I make is guided by evidence, experience, and a long-term perspective on oral health, not by routine or one-size-fits-all solutions.

My Mission: Saving Teeth That Others Give Up On

We save teeth that others do not want to treat.

My primary clinical priority is the preservation of my patients’ natural teeth. While many clinics recommend extraction and implants for difficult cases, my clinical focus is advanced endodontic treatment that allows teeth to be saved whenever biologically possible.

I specialize in treating teeth considered hopeless, including those with large infections, complex anatomy, previous failed root canals, or unclear diagnoses. I believe that preserving a natural tooth whenever possible represents the highest level of success in dentistry. Every treatment decision I make is guided by scientific evidence, precise CBCT based diagnosis, and a long term perspective on oral health.

Equally important to me is the patient experience. I place strong emphasis on creating an anxiety free environment and ensuring that each procedure is comfortable and clearly explained. This is particularly important for international patients traveling to Warsaw for dental treatment, who need reassurance, transparency, and trust at every stage of care.

Beyond clinical practice, I remain actively engaged in professional education and knowledge exchange within the international endodontic community. Teaching, mentoring, and open discussion of complex cases are an essential part of how I continue to refine my own clinical judgment and contribute to higher standards of patient care.

Specialized Training and the Endo Perio Synergy

My clinical approach is shaped by an interdisciplinary background that combines advanced endodontics with periodontal microsurgery. I refined my surgical skills under the mentorship of internationally renowned experts Prof. Markus Hürzeler and Prof. Otto Zuhr in Munich, as well as other globally respected clinicians.

This training led to what I describe as an Endo Perio synergy. Successful root canal treatment depends not only on cleaning and sealing the root canal system, but also on the health of the surrounding bone and soft tissues. This perspective allows me to manage complex infections involving both the tooth and its supporting structures, and to save teeth that are often misdiagnosed as hopeless due to large cysts, abscesses, or advanced bone loss.

This means I can treat the infection in the root and the bone loss around it simultaneously, often avoiding the need for two separate surgeries.

As part of my commitment to continuous professional development, I have completed multiple advanced clinical courses at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), focusing on contemporary endodontic diagnostics, treatment planning, and evidence-based decision making for complex cases. I am a member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and the European Society of Endodontology (ESE), and I actively participate in international scientific meetings and educational events organized by both organizations. In addition to attending advanced training, I also lecture and share clinical experience with colleagues at selected professional gatherings, contributing to ongoing education within the endodontic community.

The same interdisciplinary principles that guide my clinical work also form the foundation of my educational and mentoring activities for other dentists managing complex endodontic cases.

Microscope Assisted Root Canal Treatment: Precision Through Visibility

Using a dental microscope provides 20x magnification, allowing the specialist to locate hidden canals and structural fractures invisible to the naked eye, increasing success rates to over 90% in complex cases.

Why use a microscope for root canal treatment

You cannot treat what you cannot see. Every endodontic procedure I perform is carried out under a dental operating microscope. This is my standard of care, not an optional enhancement.

All treatments follow strict evidence based protocols aligned with current international endodontic standards.

For patients, this means fewer surprises during treatment, greater safety, and decisions based on direct visual control rather than assumption.

Technology is used to improve accuracy, safety, and long term success.

Every endodontic procedure is performed using:
  •  Dental operating microscope for high magnification and illumination to identify hidden canals, cracks, and calcifications
  •  CBCT three dimensional imaging for comprehensive diagnosis and precise treatment planning
  •  Electronic apex locator for accurate working length determination
  •  Activated irrigation systems for superior root canal disinfection
  •  Warm obturation techniques to create a three dimensional seal of the canal system
  •  Bioceramic materials that promote healing and long term stability
  •  Mandatory rubber dam isolation to ensure a sterile and safe treatment environment
This approach allows me to treat complex root anatomy, calcified and curved canals, and failed root canal cases, while delivering minimally invasive and highly predictable endodontic outcomes.

Advanced Endodontic Solutions for Complex Cases

Warsaw Dental Center provides advanced endodontic treatment for patients from Warsaw, across Poland, and from abroad. Many international patients choose Poland for dental care due to its combination of modern clinics, high medical standards, and excellent value. Many of these cases involve patients seeking a second opinion after being advised to extract a tooth elsewhere.

I regularly treat the following endodontic challenges:

  •  Emergency root canal treatment for severe tooth pain and acute abscesses
  •  Endodontic retreatment after failed root canal procedures
  •  Removal of old filling materials, posts, and separated instruments
  •  Treatment of calcified, narrow, or obstructed root canals
  •  Diagnosis and management of cracked teeth
  •  Dental trauma resulting from accidents or sports injuries
Whether a patient requires microscope assisted root canal treatment, retreatment, or advanced diagnostic assessment, my goal is always the same to save the natural tooth and deliver a long lasting, predictable result.

Scope of Referral Expertise and Complex Case Management

As Medical Director and Head of the Endodontic Center of Excellence, I personally review complex diagnostics and lead the treatment of high difficulty cases referred by other dentists.
These include:
  •  Microscopic endodontic retreatment, including safe removal of broken instruments
  •  Apical microsurgery and apicoectomy using periodontal microsurgical techniques
  •  CBCT guided treatment of calcified, curved, or obliterated root canals
  •  Second opinion consultations for unclear diagnosis, persistent pathology, suspected vertical root fractures, and teeth recommended for extraction elsewhere
In addition to treating referred cases, I work closely with other dentists through consultation and case discussion, supporting clinical decision making in situations where diagnosis or prognosis is uncertain. This collaborative approach ensures that patients receive carefully considered treatment plans while clinicians gain clarity and confidence in managing complex cases.

Education, Mentoring, and Professional Courses

Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in postgraduate education and mentoring for dentists seeking to deepen their understanding of modern endodontics. My teaching focuses on practical decision making, precise diagnostics, and predictable treatment strategies in complex cases.

I regularly deliver advanced endodontic courses and mentoring programs in collaboration with Dental Wings and Dental Day, where I work with clinicians on microscope assisted techniques, CBCT based diagnostics, retreatment planning, and management of cases previously considered untreatable.

In addition to structured courses, I am invited to attend international scientific meetings, including upcoming presentations at American Association of Endodontists meetings in 2026 and 2027. These events provide an opportunity to exchange clinical experience with peers and remain closely connected to evolving international standards of care.

I also host a professional podcast dedicated to open discussion within dentistry, where I invite doctors, specialists, and experts from related fields to share clinical insights, experience, and perspectives on complex treatment decisions. These conversations reflect my belief that progress in dentistry comes through shared knowledge, thoughtful dialogue, and continuous learning.

Endodontic consultation and treatment planning with Dr Urszula Leończak

Frequently Asked Questions from Patients

Why should I choose a specialist instead of a general dentist for my root canal? Arrow

Endodontists focus exclusively on the internal health of the tooth. My 15+ years of experience and specialized tools allow me to treat complex cases—like curved canals or failed treatments—that a general practice may not be equipped to handle.

Is microscope-assisted treatment painful? Arrow

Not at all. In fact, the precision of the microscope allows for a more "minimally invasive" approach. We use advanced local anesthesia protocols to ensure the procedure is entirely painless.

How long does a microscopic root canal take? Arrow

Most treatments are completed in 60 to 90 minutes. High-precision technology often allows us to finish in a single visit, saving you time and reducing the risk of reinfection.

What are the signs that my old root canal has failed? Arrow

Common signs include swelling, pain when biting, or a "pimple" on the gum. However, many failures are asymptomatic and are only discovered via 3D CBCT imaging.

If I’m flying into Warsaw, can I fly back immediately after treatment? Arrow

Yes. Endodontic treatment does not affect your ability to fly. We frequently coordinate schedules for international patients to ensure they are comfortable for their journey home.

What is the "Endo-Perio" approach I read about on your site? Arrow

It means I look at the tooth (Endo) and the supporting structures (Perio) as one system. This is crucial for saving teeth with deep pockets or bone loss that others might extract.

Is a root canal better than a dental implant? Arrow

Your natural tooth is always superior to a prosthetic. It provides better "proprioception" (feeling) and preserves your natural bone structure. If a tooth can be saved predictably, it is always the better biological choice.

What if the tooth breaks during the procedure? Arrow

Using the microscope, we assess the structural integrity of the tooth before we begin. If a vertical fracture is found that makes the tooth unsavable, we stop immediately and discuss the next steps.

How do I care for my tooth after the procedure? Arrow

You should avoid biting on hard foods until your general dentist places the final permanent crown. We provide detailed aftercare instructions and are available for follow-up via phone or email.

Do you offer sedation for very anxious patients? Arrow

Yes. While our environment is designed to be calm, we offer various levels of sedation to ensure that even most dental-phobic patients can receive life-saving tooth care comfortably.

Clinical & Referral FAQ for Professionals

How do you manage cases with separated instruments? Arrow

I utilize ultrasonic tips under high magnification to bypass or remove obstructions. My goal is always to maintain as much root dentin as possible during the retrieval process.

What materials do you use for apical sealing? Arrow

I primarily use bioceramic sealers and MTAs, which offer superior biocompatibility, pH-neutrality, and excellent sealing properties even in the presence of moisture.

When should I refer a case versus attempting it myself? Arrow

If a pre-operative X-ray shows calcified canals, sharp apical curvatures (>30°), or if the tooth has been previously treated, an early referral ensures the highest success rate and preserves the most tooth structure.

How do you handle teeth with open apices? Arrow

I perform apexification using bioceramic plugs or regenerative endodontic protocols, depending on the patient’s age and the pulp’s vitality.

Will you perform the post-endodontic restoration? Arrow

No. I believe in a collaborative workflow. I provide the core buildup or a temporary seal, and the patient is returned to your office for the final prosthetic restoration.

Can you assist with diagnostic "mystery" pain? Arrow

Absolutely. I offer diagnostic consultations for referred patients suffering from referred pain, suspected cracked tooth syndrome, or persistent post-op sensitivity.

What is your protocol for MB2 canals in maxillary molars? Arrow

Statistically, the MB2 is almost always present. I use the microscope and specific troughing techniques to locate and treat these canals, which are the leading cause of failure in maxillary endodontics.

Do you provide CBCT imaging for my own diagnostic use? Arrow

Yes. If you refer a patient for imaging only, we provide the raw DICOM files and a viewer, allowing you to use our high-resolution technology for your own treatment planning.

How do you handle "hot pulps" that are difficult to anesthetize? Arrow

I use supplemental anesthesia techniques, including intraligamentary and intraosseous injections, to ensure the patient is 100% comfortable before any instrumentation begins.

Are you available for case consultations before a referral? Arrow

Yes. I encourage colleagues to send me 2D or 3D images via our secure portal for a preliminary opinion on the prognosis and difficulty of a case.

FAQ for Mentoring & Professional Education

Who are your mentoring programs designed for? Arrow

My programs are designed for dentists at various stages from those just starting their journey with a dental microscope to experienced clinicians looking to master complex retreatments and microsurgical techniques.

What is the primary focus of your endodontic courses? Arrow

Our curriculum is built on the "Predictability through Precision" framework, which integrates the latest peer-reviewed protocols into daily clinical practice. We move beyond traditional techniques by focusing on three evidence-based pillars: CBCT-Guided Diagnostics: Moving away from 2D limitations, we utilize 3D imaging to identify complex anatomy (like MB2 canals or resorptive lesions) that is often missed in standard radiographs, directly correlating to higher long-term success rates. Advanced Bio-Active Irrigation: We focus on evidence-based disinfection protocols—using activated irrigation to eliminate biofilm in areas that mechanical instrumentation cannot reach, ensuring a biologically sterile environment. Micro-Surgical Excellence: By mastering the dental operating microscope, we follow the "minimally invasive" endodontic philosophy. Research shows that preserving peri-cervical dentin is the most significant factor in preventing post-treatment tooth fractures. Our goal is to give clinicians the tools to handle "hopeless" cases based on biological outcomes rather than clinical habit.

Do you offer 1-on-1 clinical mentoring? Arrow

Yes. Alongside group courses with Dental Wings and Dental Day, I provide personalized mentoring sessions focused on live case discussions and refinement of clinical workflows.

Can I bring my own complex cases for discussion? Arrow

Absolutely. Analyzing "real-world" cases is the most effective way to learn. I encourage participants to bring their own CBCT scans and documentation for collaborative treatment planning.

Is there a focus on ergonomics in your microscope training? Arrow

Yes. Long-term career health is vital. I teach specific ergonomic positions and mirror techniques that allow for high-precision work without the physical strain often associated with endodontics.

Do you provide training on the "Endo-Resto" synergy? Arrow

Yes. This is a core part of my curriculum I teach it with Dr. Natalia Rogulska. I teach clinicians how to diagnose and manage the intersection of endodontic infections and periodontal health to improve the long-term prognosis of saved teeth.

How can I stay updated on your upcoming lectures and workshops? Arrow

I regularly update my schedule for 2026 and 2027 engagements, including AAE meetings. You can also subscribe to my newsletter or follow my professional podcast for updates on new course dates.

What technology will I have access to during your hands-on workshops? Arrow

Participants work with high-end dental operating microscopes, the latest bioceramic materials, and advanced ultrasonic and irrigation systems to mirror the environment of a modern center of excellence.

Do you offer online consultations for difficult cases? Arrow

Beyond physical courses, I am developing a digital platform for remote case mentoring, allowing us to review CBCT data and clinical protocols via secure video consultation.
