Tooth loss increases the risk of dementia

The more missing teeth, the greater the likelihood of dementia, warn scientists from New York University.

They found that there is a correlation between missing teeth and deterioration of cognitive abilities.
According to experts from New York in the field of dentistry and neurology, the use of prostheses can prevent the decline of these abilities.

Seniors with more than the average number of missing teeth had a 1.5 times higher risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer’s.
These results confirm that regular check-ups, attention to oral hygiene and consultations with a prosthodontist can significantly reduce the risk of health problems affecting our brain.
